Lucknow: In a chilling revelation that has shocked the capital, police have solved the gruesome case of a teenage girl whose dismembered remains were found inside a train at Gomti Nagar Railway Station. Investigations have confirmed it to be a case of honor killing, allegedly orchestrated by the victim’s own father along with two relatives. All three accused have been arrested.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl from Kushinagar district, was found dead under horrifying circumstances on May 17 inside the S-1 sleeper coach of the Chhapra–Gomti Nagar Express. Railway police recovered a tin trunk containing her torso, while her severed limbs were found packed in a separate bag placed nearby. Her head was missing from the scene.
The discovery triggered a major investigation by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Lucknow. Officers examined CCTV footage from multiple stations along the train’s route, which eventually led to a breakthrough. At Tamkuhi Road Railway Station in Kushinagar, three individuals were seen boarding the sleeper coach with a large trunk and later exiting from an air-conditioned coach shortly after leaving the baggage inside.
Based on the footage, the suspects were identified as Biggan Ansari, a resident of Shivrahi village, his sister Noorjahan, and her husband Mujeebullah. All three were taken into custody.
During interrogation, the victim’s father, Biggan Ansari, confessed to the crime. He told police that his daughter Shabba had been in contact with a young man over the phone despite repeated warnings. He claimed that he had earlier faced “family disgrace” as two of his daughters had previously left home, and he feared the same situation would repeat.
According to police, this fear of social humiliation escalated into a premeditated murder. Investigators said the accused first sent his wife and sons away to another relative’s home. On May 16, he allegedly discussed the plan with his sister and brother-in-law, after which the trio killed the girl and dismembered her body.

In a further attempt to destroy evidence, the head was allegedly thrown into a village pond, while the torso and limbs were packed separately. The body parts were later placed inside the train coach to mislead investigators.
The GRP confirmed that the post-mortem examination is underway and DNA testing has been conducted. Despite extensive searches, the victim’s head has not yet been recovered.
Superintendent of Police Rohit Mishra said the case was solved through sustained CCTV analysis and technical evidence. “All three accused have been arrested, and further legal proceedings are in progress,” he added.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, raising renewed concerns over honor-based violence and its devastating consequences.
